Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Abdominal pain
  2. confusion
  3. difficulty with breathing
  4. irregular heartbeat
  5. nausea or vomiting
  6. nervousness
  7. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  8. shortness of breath
  9. weakness or heaviness of the legs

Less common

  1. Agitation
  2. back pain
  3. blurred vision
  4. coma
  5. dizziness
  6. drowsiness
  7. fever
  8. hallucinations (seeing things that aren't there)
  9. headache
  10. irritability
  11. labored breathing
  12. mood or mental changes
  13. seizures (convulsions)
  14. stiff neck
  15. tightness in the chest
  16. unusual tiredness or weakness
  17. vomiting
  18. wheezing

Rare

  1. Arm or jaw pain
  2. bloody or black, tarry stools
  3. burning while urinating
  4. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  5. change in vision
  6. chest pain, discomfort, or heaviness
  7. chills
  8. clay-colored stools
  9. cold sweats
  10. constipation
  11. dark urine
  12. difficult or painful urination
  13. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
  14. fainting
  15. fast, pounding, racing, or slow heartbeat or pulse
  16. itching
  17. light-colored stools
  18. loss of appetite
  19. loss of vision
  20. rash
  21. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  22. stomach pain, severe
  23. sweating
  24. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  25. unpleasant breath odor
  26. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  27. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Continuing stomach pain
  2. cough
  3. lower back or side pain
  4. pale skin
  5. sore throat
  6. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  7. swollen or painful glands
  8. unusual bleeding or bruising

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Decreased urination
  2. dry mouth
  3. increase in heart rate
  4. lightheadedness
  5. muscle cramps or pain
  6. pain or weakness in the hands or feet
  7. rapid breathing
  8. sunken eyes
  9. thirst
  10. wrinkled skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. weight loss

Less common

  1. Changes in appetite
  2. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  3. inability to have or keep an erection
  4. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance

Rare

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  4. discouragement
  5. disturbed color perception
  6. double vision
  7. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  8. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  9. feeling sad or empty
  10. frequent urination
  11. full or bloated feeling
  12. hair loss or thinning of hair
  13. hearing loss
  14. increased need to urinate
  15. increased volume of pale, dilute urine
  16. indigestion
  17. joint pain
  18. leg ache or pain
  19. loss of interest or pleasure
  20. neck or shoulder ache
  21. night blindness
  22. overbright appearance of lights
  23. pain in the chest below the breastbone
  24. passing of gas
  25. passing urine more often
  26. pressure in the stomach
  27. seeing halos around lights
  28. sensation of spinning
  29. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  30. sleeplessness
  31. stomach fullness, discomfort, or upset
  32. stuffy nose
  33. swelling of abdominal or stomach area
  34. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  35. trouble concentrating
  36. trouble sleeping
  37. tunnel vision
  38. unable to sleep

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
