Biographical summary
Dr. Wasif is a Surgical Oncologist, that is a General Surgeon with additional sub-specialty training in cancer surgery. His clinical expertise covers:
- Cytoreductive Surgery and HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intra-operative Chemotherapy): This is a specialized treatment for advanced colon cancer, appendix cancer and peritoneal mesothelioma.
- Pancreatic cancer: Both adenocarcinoma and neuroendocrine tumors
- Gastric cancer: Both adenocarcinoma and GIST tumors
- Melanoma
- Retro-peritoneal sarcoma
In addition to his clinical activities Dr. Wasif is the Program Director for the General Surgery Residency Program at Mayo Clinic Arizona. He is also actively involved in clinical research, primarily in the field of comparative effectiveness research and health services research as it pertains to cancer care.
