Fantley C. Smither, M.D.

Fantley (Clay) Smither, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation who is fellowship trained in Amputee Rehabilitation. These subspecialties include the following areas of practice:

• pre- and post-amputation treatment
• prosthetic rehabilitation

Dr. Smither is an accomplished medical teacher in the area of Amputations and has membership with the United States Member Society of International Society of Prosthetics & Orthotics, Association of Academic Physiatrists, and American Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Along with his clinical practice, Dr. Smither is an integral part of the PM&R Residency program as the Associate Program Director. He provides one-on-one teaching for Physiatrists early in their career, with at-the-bedside training, real-life feedback, and hands-on education. As part of the Program, he teaches musculoskeletal anatomy, Orthotics & Prosthetics workshop, and the resident anatomy course.
