Biographical summary
Anthony Ritaccio, M.D., is a physician in the Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He has decades of experience in medical management of complex epilepsy and surgical management of
drug-resistant epilepsy, and specializes in epilepsy and seizure. His research interests include high-frequency electrocorticographic brain mapping, brain-computer interface technology, epilepsy surgery, experimental
anticonvulsant trials and reflex epilepsy syndromes.
He earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York, where he also completed his internal medicine internship. He continued there for a neurology residency, where he was Chief Resident in the
center's Department of Neurology, and afterwards completed an epilepsy and neurophysiology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Epilepsy Center in Pennsylvania.
He is certified in neurology and epilepsy by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and has conducted research funded by the United States Department of Defense, the European Union Scientific
Development Fund, and the National Institute of Health, and has held an academic partnership with the University of Rome, Italy.
His research interests include:
- Brain signal analysis
- Brain-computer interface technology
- Experimental epilepsy drug trials
Dr. Ritaccio has conducted research funded by the United States Department of Defense, the European Union Scientific Development Fund, and the National Institute of Health, and he is currently in an academic
partnership with the University of Rome, Italy. He is also a principal collaborator with the NIH funded National Center for Adaptive Neurotechnologies (NCAN).
