Biographical summary
Dr. Brenes-Salazar obtained his medical degree from Escuela Autonoma de Ciencias Medicas in Costa Rica, and completed training in lnternal Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. He pursued additional training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester under the hybrid Geriatric Cardiology track, completing sequential fellowships in Cardiovascular Diseases and Geriatric Medicine. He has a special interest in patients over 75 years of age with cardiovascular diseases, usually in the setting of other multiple complex medical problems. He is actively involved in teaching students, residents and fellows. Dr. Brenes-Salazar is part of the Division of Comprehensive and Community Cardiology, and sees patients locally in Rochester as well as in some communities throughout Southeast MN.
