Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Chest tightness
  2. cough producing mucus
  3. difficulty with breathing

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  3. blood in the urine
  4. bloody nose
  5. bloody stools
  6. blurred or loss of vision
  7. body aches or pain
  8. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  9. chest pain or discomfort
  10. confusion about identity, place, and time
  11. congestion
  12. constipation
  13. cough
  14. cracks in the skin
  15. crying
  16. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  17. decreased urine output
  18. depersonalization
  19. diarrhea
  20. difficulty with swallowing
  21. dilated neck veins
  22. disturbed color perception
  23. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  24. double vision
  25. dryness or soreness of the throat
  26. dysphoria
  27. euphoria
  28. fast, pounding, slow, or irregular heartbeat
  29. fever and chills
  30. general feeling of discomfort, illness, or weakness
  31. hair loss
  32. halos around lights
  33. headaches
  34. heavier menstrual periods
  35. hoarseness
  36. irregular breathing
  37. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  38. loss of heat from the body
  39. mental depression
  40. mimicry of speech or movements
  41. muscle or joint pain
  42. mutism
  43. nausea
  44. negativism
  45. night blindness
  46. noisy breathing
  47. overbright appearance of lights
  48. paleness or cold feeling in the fingertips and toes
  49. paranoia
  50. peculiar postures or movements, mannerisms, or grimacing
  51. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin
  52. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  53. quick to react or overreact emotionally
  54. rapidly changing moods
  55. rectal bleeding
  56. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  57. red, irritated eyes
  58. red, swollen skin
  59. reddening of the skin, especially around the ears
  60. runny nose
  61. scaly skin
  62. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  63. severe sleepiness
  64. short-term memory loss
  65. skin irritation or rash, including rash that looks like psoriasis
  66. skin rash, hives, or itching
  67. stomach pain and tenderness
  68. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  69. sweating
  70. swelling of the eyes, face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  71. swollen glands
  72. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  73. tingling or pain in fingers or toes when exposed to cold
  74. tunnel vision
  75. unusual bleeding or bruising
  76. unusual tiredness or weakness
  77. voice changes
  78. vomiting
  79. weight gain

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Anxiety
  2. dry mouth
  3. hyperventilation
  4. irritability
  5. restlessness
  6. shaking
  7. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  8. trouble sleeping
  9. unusual dreams

Less common

  1. Decreased appetite

Incidence not known

  1. Dry eyes
  2. heartburn
  3. loss of strength or energy
  4. muscle weakness
  5. pain or discomfort in the chest, upper stomach, or throat
  6. stomach cramps
  7. unusual drowsiness, dullness, or feeling of sluggishness
  8. vivid dreams
