Drug information provided by: Merative, Micromedex®
Ibuprofen and oxycodone combination is used to relieve acute, moderate to severe pain.
Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) that is used to relieve inflammation, swelling, and pain. Oxycodone is an opioid analgesic that acts in the central nervous system to relieve pain. If oxycodone is used for a long time, it may become habit-forming (causing mental or physical dependence). Physical dependence may lead to withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking the medicine. Since ibuprofen and oxycodone combination is only used for short-term (7 days or less) relief of pain, physical dependence probably will not occur.
