A nurse or other trained health professional will give you or your child this medicine in a medical facility. This medicine is given as a shot into one of your muscles or through a needle placed in one of your veins.
When this medicine is used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by cancer medicines (chemotherapy), it is usually given 30 minutes before the start of chemotherapy for at least 15 minutes. Additional doses may be given 4 hours after the first dose and 8 hours after the first dose.
When this medicine is used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by surgery, it is usually given just before anesthesia (medicine to put you to sleep before surgery) or right after surgery if nausea and vomiting begin.
