Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

1. Vaginal yeast infection

Incidence not known

1. Change in vaginal discharge
2. clear or bloody discharge from the nipple
3. decrease in the amount of urine
4. dimpling of the breast skin
5. fast heartbeat
6. fever
7. hives, itching, or rash
8. hoarseness
9. inverted nipple
10. irritation
11. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
12. lump in the breast or under the arm
13. noisy, rattling breathing
14. pain or feeling of pressure in the pelvis
15. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
16. persistent crusting or scaling of the nipple
17. redness of the skin
18. redness or swelling of the breast
19. sore on the skin of the breast that does not heal
20. swelling of the eyelids, face, fingers, lips, hands, feet, or lower legs
21. tightness in the chest
22. troubled breathing at rest
23. troubled breathing or swallowing
24. vaginal bleeding

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

1. Dizziness
2. drowsiness
3. nausea
4. stomach pain
5. tenderness of the breasts
6. unusual tiredness or weakness
7. vomiting

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

1. Back pain
2. headache
3. itching or pain of the vagina or genital area
4. thick, white vaginal discharge with mild or no odor
5. weight gain

Less common

1. Body aches or pain
2. chills
3. cough
4. diarrhea
5. ear congestion
6. loss of voice
7. nasal congestion
8. runny nose
9. sneezing
10. sore throat

Incidence not known

1. Feeling sad or empty
2. headache, severe and throbbing
3. irritability
4. lack of appetite
5. tiredness
6. trouble concentrating
7. trouble sleeping
8. welts
