Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bedwetting
  2. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  3. sleepwalking

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  3. confusion about identity, place, and time
  4. discouragement
  5. feeling sad or empty
  6. irritability
  7. lack of appetite
  8. loss of interest or pleasure
  9. pain in the arm or leg
  10. seeing, feeling, or hearing things that are not there
  11. sleep paralysis
  12. thoughts of killing oneself
  13. tremor
  14. trouble breathing
  15. trouble concentrating
  16. trouble sleeping
  17. unusual tiredness or weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Being forgetful
  2. blurred vision
  3. chest tightness
  4. decrease in the amount of urine
  5. dizziness
  6. falls
  7. fever
  8. headache
  9. hives, itching, skin rash
  10. hoarseness
  11. increased urge to urinate during the night
  12. irritation
  13. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  14. nervousness
  15. noisy, rattling breathing
  16. pounding in the ears
  17. redness of the skin
  18. swelling of the face, fingers, hands, feet, or lower legs
  19. trouble swallowing
  20. waking to urinate at night
  21. weight gain

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Agitation
  2. chest pain or discomfort
  3. clumsiness
  4. drowsiness
  5. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  6. loss of consciousness
  7. loss of strength or energy
  8. low body temperature
  9. muscle pain or weakness
  10. seizures
  11. shakiness and unsteady walk
  12. shivering
  13. slow or irregular heartbeat
  14. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
  15. unusual weak feeling
  16. weak or feeble pulse

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Decreased weight
  2. diarrhea
  3. dry mouth
  4. increased sweating
  5. nausea
  6. vomiting

Less common

  1. Clenching, gnashing, or grinding teeth
  2. feeling drunk
  3. snoring

Incidence not known

  1. Difficulty in moving
