Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Agitation
  2. coma
  3. confusion
  4. decreased urine output
  5. depression
  6. dizziness
  7. headache
  8. hostility
  9. irritability
  10. lethargy
  11. muscle twitching
  12. nausea
  13. rapid weight gain
  14. seizures
  15. stupor
  16. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  17. unusual tiredness or weakness

Rare

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bladder pain
  3. bleeding gums
  4. blistering, peeling, loosening of the skin
  5. blood in the urine or stools
  6. blurred vision
  7. changes in skin color
  8. chest pain or tightness
  9. chills
  10. clay-colored stools
  11. cloudy urine
  12. cough or hoarseness
  13. coughing up blood
  14. dark urine
  15. diarrhea
  16. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  17. difficulty with breathing or swallowing
  18. difficulty with speaking
  19. dilated neck veins
  20. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  21. double vision
  22. enlarged stomach
  23. fainting
  24. fast or slow heartbeat
  25. feeling of warmth
  26. fever
  27. frequent urge to urinate
  28. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  29. inability to speak
  30. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  31. increased sweating
  32. irregular breathing
  33. irregular heartbeat
  34. itching, rash
  35. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  36. lightheadedness
  37. loosening of the fingernails
  38. loss of appetite
  39. loss of strength or energy
  40. lower back or side pain
  41. muscle pain or weakness
  42. nosebleeds
  43. numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in the hands or feet
  44. pain, tenderness, or swelling of the foot or leg
  45. painful or difficult urination
  46. paralysis
  47. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  48. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  49. rapid, shallow breathing
  50. red or black, tarry stools
  51. red or dark brown urine
  52. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  53. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  54. slow speech
  55. sore throat
  56. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  57. stomach pain
  58. sweating
  59. swelling of the fingers, feet, or lower legs
  60. swollen glands
  61. trouble breathing
  62. unpleasant breath odor
  63. unusual bleeding or bruising
  64. unusual weak feeling
  65. vomiting of blood
  66. weight gain
  67. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Drowsiness
  2. indigestion
  3. unusual hair loss

Rare

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of the skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
  2. body aches or pain
  3. congestion
  4. cracked lips
  5. difficulty with moving
  6. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  7. hives or welts
  8. muscle stiffness
  9. pain, redness, swelling, tenderness, or warmth on the skin
  10. runny nose
  11. voice changes

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
