A Study to Create a Registry of Non-Fusion Spinal Deformity Correction in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Rochester, Minn., Minneapolis, Minn. The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of non-fusion surgical treatment of Spinal Deformity Correction in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. The Post Approval Study (PAS) is gathering data on the Tether device and it's efficacy and safety. ATHN 9: Severe Von Willebrand Disease Natural History Study Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to assess the safety of various Von Willebrand Factor (VWF) regimens for different indications (on-demand, surgery and prophylaxis) in adult and pediatric participants with clinically severe congenital VWD. A Study of the Effect of Treatment on Activity and Muscle Function in Pediatric Patients with Scoliosis Rochester, Minn. This study will explore the relationship between skeletal muscle and physical activity in scoliosis patients to provide insight into both the etiology of scoliosis and possible ways to mitigate the potential harm of treatment. A Study of Heated Intra-peritoneal Chemotherapy (H.I.P.E.C.) with Doxorubicin and Cisplatin in Pediatric Patients with Pelvic and Abdominal Rhabdomyosarcoma Rochester, Minn. The primary purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility of heated intra-peritoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) with doxorubicin (DOXO) and Cisplatin (CDDP) after surgical resection of pediatric pelvic and abdominal tumors, and to assess morbidity, hospital length of stay and peri-operative mortality outcomes for pediatric patients with intraperitoneal sarcoma undergoing hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. A Study of Noninvasive Hemoglobin Monitoring in Pediatric Patients Undergoing Orthopedic Surgery Rochester, Minn. The purposes of this study are to validate noninvasive hemoglobin monitoring in postoperative orthopedic pediatric patients, to evaluate patient, parent, and provider preference of noninvasive hemoglobin monitoring compared to invasive blood draw, and to evaluate cost effectiveness of noninvasive monitoring in comparison to invasive blood draws. A Study to Evaluate the Safety and Effectiveness of Dextenza® to Treat Ocular Pain and Inflammation Following Pediatric Cataract Surgery Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to assess the safety of Dextenza compared to an active control, prednisolone acetate suspension, for the treatment of postoperative pain and inflammation following ocular surgery for pediatric cataract. A Study to Assess Cisplatin and Combination Chemotherapy in Treating Children and Young Adults with Hepatoblastoma or Liver Cancer After Surgery Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to determine how well cisplatin and combination chemotherapy works in treating children and young adults with hepatoblastoma or liver cancer after surgery. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin, doxorubicin, fluorouracil, vincristine sulfate, carboplatin, etoposide, irinotecan, sorafenib, gemcitabine and oxaliplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving combination chemotherapy after surgery may kill more tumor cells. A Study to Evaluate Biomarker Target Stimulation Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to understand how electrical stimulation of the brain can modulate and suppress interictal epileptiform activity as a step on the path to developing new therapies for epilepsy. A Study to Evaluate Time to First Movement for Fetal Surgery Patients Injected with Intramuscular Anesthesia Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to determine the time from intramuscular injection to the time of first fetal movement after a fetal surgery procedure. A Study to Evaluate Perceptions of Midline Sternotomy Scar in Children and Young Adults Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to evaluate how children and young adults perceive their midline sternotomy scars (in terms of appearance, associated symptoms, consciousness, satisfaction with appearance/symptoms, and impact on quality of life)? The patient comes first. So the mission and research here is to advance how we can best help the patient, how to make sure the patient comes first in care. So in many ways, it's a cycle. It can start with as simple as an idea worked on in a laboratory, brought to the patient bedside, and if everything goes right — and let's say it's helpful or beneficial — then brought on as a standard approach. And I think that is one of the unique characteristics of Mayo's approach to research — that patient-centeredness — that really helps to put it in its own spotlight.
