Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is an uncommon group of inherited disorders, caused by genetic mutations, that affect the proteins that support the skin, bones, joints, blood vessels and internal organs (connective tissues). Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is usually grouped into six major types.
