Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. accumulation of pus
  3. arm, back, or jaw pain
  4. blurred vision
  5. breathing problems (irregular, noisy, or trouble when resting)
  6. chest pain, discomfort, tightness, or heaviness
  7. chills
  8. confusion
  9. cough producing mucus
  10. decrease in the amount of urine
  11. diarrhea
  12. dilated neck veins
  13. dizziness, fainting, or lightheadedness
  14. dry mouth
  15. fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
  16. fatigue or tiredness (extreme or unusual)
  17. fever
  18. headache
  19. nausea
  20. pain, tenderness, swelling, or warmth over injection site
  21. pounding in the ears
  22. rapid breathing
  23. rapid or pounding pulse
  24. shortness of breath
  25. skin discoloration at the injection site
  26. sunken eyes
  27. sweating
  28. swelling of the ankles, face, fingers, feet, hands, or lower legs
  29. thirst
  30. trouble with breathing
  31. unconsciousness
  32. vomiting
  33. weight gain
  34. wheezing
  35. wrinkled skin

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. convulsions
  3. difficulty with speaking (slow speech or unable to speak)
  4. double vision
  5. trouble with thinking
  6. trouble with walking
  7. unable to move the arms, legs, or face muscles (including numbness and tingling)

Rare

  1. Fever and sore throat
  2. hives
  3. itching
  4. pale skin
  5. skin rash
  6. unusual tiredness or weakness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Constipation
  2. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  3. lack or loss of strength
  4. loss of appetite
  5. muscle aches, pains, or stiffness
  6. pain in the joints
  7. runny nose
  8. shivering
  9. sneezing
  10. trouble with sleeping
