The aim of this study is to compare the quality of life of patients with biliary obstruction who have undergone an endoscopic or percutaneous drainage. The quality of life of patients witll be assessed using the validated "European Quality of Life-5 Dimensions Questionnaire" and the "Intervention-Dependent Questionnaire" which was developed according to current literature as well as the expert opinion of gastroeneterologists. MelmarT Melanoma Margins Trial Investigating 1cm v 2cm Wide Excision Margins for Primary Cutaneous Melanoma (MelMarT) Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to determine differences in the rate of local recurrence and melanoma specific survival. A reduction in margins is expected to improve quality of life to back up evidence that less radical margins of excision may be just as safe. ALEX Study: A Randomized, Phase III Study Comparing Alectinib with Crizotinib in Treatment-Naive Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase (ALK)-Positive Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) Patients Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. This randomized, active controlled, multicenter Phase III open-label study is designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of alectinib compared with critozinib treatment in patients with treatment-naive ALK-positive advanced NSCLC. Patients will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive either alectinib, 600 mg orally twice daily (BID), or critozinib, 250 mg orally BID. Patients will receive treatment until disease progression, unacceptable toxicity, consent withdrawal or death occurs. The study is expected to last approximately 42 months. Analysis of the Cardiac, Aorta and Carotid Artery Walls for Hemodynamic Monitoring in the Intensive Care Unit Jacksonville, Fla. The primary aim of this study is to determine if biomechanical properties of cardiac and large arterial walls measured by ultrasound-based novel imaging technology correlate with hemodynamic parameters measured by other tools in the ICU. A Study to Collect Ovarian Tissue from Girls Undergoing Fertility-preserving Cryopreservation Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to study the handling of ovarian tissue, cryopreservation technology, and oocyte maturation for female pediatric cancer patients and other female patients whose future fertility will be affected due to a disease or treatment. The purpose of this study is to investigate glucose and fructose absorption in enteroids from obese African American subjects before and 1-year post-bariatric surgery compared to age and sex-matched enteroids from obese Caucasian and Hispanic subjects (controls). Also, to profile the expression of glucose and fructose transporters and gluconeogenic enzymes in intestinal tissue from obese African American subjects and compare it to obese Caucasian and Hispanic subjects pre- and post-bariatric surgery.
