Biographical summary
Srilekha Sridhara, M.B.B.S., M.D., is a transplant nephrologist at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. She specializes in the care of patients with kidney disease and kidney failure and is a member of Mayo Clinic's Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Programs.
Dr. Sridhara provides comprehensive care for patients undergoing evaluation for kidney or pancreas transplantation, as well as long-term management of transplant recipients. She collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to guide patients through every stage of the transplant journey, from pre-transplant assessment to post-transplant monitoring and ongoing care.
She completed her nephrology fellowship training at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, followed by subspecialty fellowship training in renal transplantation through the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education in Arizona. Dr. Sridhara is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Sridhara is actively engaged in research focused on improving outcomes for transplant recipients. She received the John A. and Marilyn R. Duke Career Development Award in Transplant Research for her work investigating microvascular inflammation in kidney transplant recipients. Her research interests include kidney transplant rejection, management of post-transplant complications such as infections and malignancies, and the emerging applications of artificial intelligence in transplantation.
Her contributions have been recognized with a Young Investigator Award from the American Society of Transplantation and recognition for a top-rated abstract at the National Kidney Foundation Spring Clinical Meeting. She has presented her research at national and international conferences and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in transplantation and nephrology.
Dr. Sridhara is also deeply committed to medical education. She teaches medical students through nephrology-focused simulation (SIM) sessions and serves as core faculty for the Transplant Nephrology Fellowship Program at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. In addition, she is a physician educator for the inpatient nephrology advanced practice provider (APP) service, where she regularly lectures on a broad range of nephrology and transplantation topics.
Beyond her clinical, research, and educational roles, Dr. Sridhara serves as the physician liaison for artificial intelligence initiatives within the Division of Nephrology. In this capacity, she helps develop Epic-based tools designed to enhance workflow efficiency across the continuum of patient care.
Dr. Sridhara is a member of the American Society of Transplantation and the American Society of Nephrology. She is dedicated to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care and partnering with patients and families before and after kidney or pancreas transplantation.
