Carl Andersen, M.D., is an assistant professor of medicine and consultant in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he also serves as Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. He has previously served in roles as Site Leader for the Department of Medicine Primary Care Clinic and as Medical Director of Executive and International Medicine. Dr. Andersen provides referral-based internal medicine care for adults, specializing in preventative health, executive evaluations, and complex chronic conditions. He partners with patients to deliver personalized care that emphasizes disease prevention, wellness, and long-term health goals.

My care philosophy is to provide each patient with an exceptional Mayo Clinic experience by combining preventive health and wellness with Mayo's integrated, multidisciplinary approach to evaluation and treatment. In addition to clinical care, he serves as faculty in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, teaching medical students and residents. His academic work includes published research and national presentations on internal medicine topics, longevity medicine, and patient experience.

He has received multiple recognitions for excellence, including repeated Top Performer awards for ranking in the 99th percentile for patient experience across Mayo Clinic, as well as honors for clinical education and contributions to quality improvement.

Personal Note:

Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Andersen enjoys staying active through running, basketball, and both cross-country and downhill skiing. He values time with family, traveling, and spending summers at Minnesota’s lakes.
