Bassam G. Abu Jawdeh, M.D.

Bassam G. Abu Jawdeh, M.D., is a transplant nephrologist and Associate Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. He specializes in kidney transplantation, pancreas transplantation, kidney disease and kidney failure, and provides care for patients with complex transplant-related conditions.

Dr. Abu Jawdeh completed his nephrology fellowship at Case Western Reserve University and transplant nephrology fellowship training at Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining Mayo Clinic Arizona, he served on the faculty at the University of Cincinnati and was Medical Director of Pancreas Transplantation.

Dr. Abu Jawdeh has received multiple awards for research, education and academic achievement. He has secured funding from the American Heart Association, the National Institutes of Health (U01) and multiple foundations. He serves on editorial boards and reviews for leading kidney and transplant journals.

His research interests include immunosuppression, recurrent glomerulopathies, complement-mediated diseases, antibody-mediated rejection, thrombotic microangiopathies and clinical trials designed to improve outcomes for kidney and pancreas transplant recipients.

Dr. Abu Jawdeh is fluent in English and Arabic and is actively involved in advancing transplant nephrology through research, education and multidisciplinary patient care within Mayo Clinic’s Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Programs.
