Education
Dr Wamil pursued comprehensive cardiology training at the Oxford University Hospitals between 2008 and 2017. This rigorous program encompassed fellowships in cardiovascular medicine, advanced cardiac imaging, heart failure and inherited cardiomyopathies. During this period, Dr Wamil earned internationally recognised accreditations in echocardiography, cardiac CT and cardiac magnetic resonance, showcasing her commitment to excellence.
She has received multiple awards for her academic excellence, including fellowships and grants from esteemed organisations, such as the British Heart Foundation, the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging and the European Society of Cardiology. Actively participating in the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, Dr Wamil is involved in organising international teaching courses and setting standards for operating cardiac imaging departments across Europe.
Research activities
Apart from her clinical career, Dr Wamil is also a clinician scientist with research experience spanning from molecular biology and drug development projects to large-scale clinical trials. She completed the British Heart Foundation (BHF) MSc-PhD program in cardiovascular science at the University of Edinburgh, followed by a postdoctoral BHF Centre of Research Excellence fellowship in cardiac imaging at the University of Oxford. Her research interests include cardiovascular complications of diabetes, mechanisms of heart failure (HF) development in people with diabetes, using a variety of methodologies such as randomised controlled trials, AI and digital health technologies.
