Biographical summary
Dr. Cyril Varghese is a Consultant in the Department of Critical Medicine and Division of Pulmonary Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Arizona, and also an adjunct faculty at Arizona State University. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and has served as the course director of Pulmonary Medicine Block at the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine until 2023. During his tenure as course director, he received several teaching awards including 2 golden apple awards. He holds a master's degree in biomedical engineering and completed medical school at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, after which he completed his residency, chief residency and pulmonary critical care fellowship at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. The areas of his clinical interest include lung cancer diagnosis and prognostication, chronic cough, fibrosing mediastinitis, aspiration and frailty and its effects on pulmonary diseases. His clinical practice is integrated with his research as he leads two AI labs that deal with voice analytics and imaging analysis.
