Jason A. Pietryga, M.D.

Jason A Pietryga, M.D., is a board-certified radiologist with expertise in abdominal imaging and emergency radiology. Dr. Pietryga's clinical practice primarily focuses on CT, ultrasound, and radiography in the Emergency and Hospital Radiology Division. He is currently an Associate Professor of Radiology.

Dr. Pietryga completed his Abdominal Imaging fellowship at Duke University Medical Center and was subsequently faculty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine and the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University where he practiced both abdominal and emergency radiology. Most recently, he was the inaugural Division Chief of the Emergency Radiology Division at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned the rank of Clinical Professor.

Dr. Pietryga is an active member of multiple radiological societies. Most notably, he is currently the Chair of the Scientific Program Committee for the American Society of Emergency Radiology (ASER) and formerly served as a member of the American College of Radiology (ACR) Appropriateness Criteria (AC) Expert Panel on Gastrointestinal Imaging 2, from 2018-2024.  Dr. Pietryga serves as a reviewer for multiple radiology journals and has also previously served as an Associate Editor of Hollow Organ GI for Abdominal Radiology, from 2020-2024.
