Ram A. Pathak, M.D.

Dr. Ram Pathak is an associate professor and urologic oncologist at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. He serves as vice-chair of research and Fellowship Director of the Minimally-invasive Endourology Fellowship within the Department of Urology. His clinical practice focuses on the evaluation of elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA), MRI-guided transperineal prostate biopsy, robotic-assisted prostatectomy and focal therapy for localized disease.

He is committed to providing evidence-based, individualized care that achieves excellent cancer control while preserving urinary and sexual function whenever possible.

Dr. Pathak has particular expertise in evaluating men with elevated PSA and other risk factors for prostate cancer. He utilizes multiparametric MRI, MRI-guided transperineal biopsy, and individualized risk assessment to improve diagnostic accuracy and guide decisions regarding active surveillance and treatment.

A fellowship-trained specialist in minimally invasive urologic oncology, Dr. Pathak performs robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy using advanced nerve-sparing techniques and both multiport and single-port robotic platforms. He also offers focal therapy for appropriately selected patients, tailoring treatment to each individual's disease characteristics, functional priorities and long-term goals.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Pathak is actively involved in research focused on advancing prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment. His interests include MRI-guided biopsy, robotic surgery, focal therapy, and innovations that improve both oncologic and functional outcomes.

A Jacksonville native, Dr. Pathak attended The Bolles School before graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in biology from Drexel University. He earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine, completed his urology residency at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, and went on to complete a fellowship in minimally invasive surgical oncology at Wake Forest University.

Having grown up in Jacksonville, Dr. Pathak is proud to care for patients in the community he has long called home. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, cheering on the Jacksonville Jaguars, attending performances by the Jacksonville Symphony, and visiting local landmarks such as the Museum of Science & History.
