Brit J. Long, M.D.

Brit Long was born in Iowa and attended the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science. He then attended Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in Rochester, MN, where he received his M.D. in 2013. Dr. Long completed his residency in emergency medicine at San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium in 2016, after which he served in the U.S. Air Force for 9 years. During his time in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Long deployed three times. He separated from the military in 2025 as a Lieutenant Colonel and served as an attending emergency physician and medical director of the ED observation unit at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA. He joined Mayo Clinic in 2026 as an emergency physician.

During his medical career, Dr. Long has focused on evidence-based practice and synthesis, education, and mentorship to improve medical care through digital education platforms, scholarship, and creating innovative curricula for students, residents, military personnel, and practicing physicians. His passion centers on translating evidence into practical bedside care.
