Biographical summary
Allison Allmon Dixson, Ph.D., ABPP, is a board-certified pediatric psychologist specializing in the integration of psychological and medical care for children and adolescents. She provides pediatric consultation-liaison services at Mayo Clinic, addressing the behavioral, emotional and psychological needs of children and families navigating medical illness, hospitalization and complex health care experiences.
Dr. Allmon Dixson earned her doctoral degree in counseling psychology from the University of Iowa. She completed pediatric psychology residency training at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Janet Weiss Children’s Hospital, Geisinger Medical Center, in Danville, Pennsylvania. Her professional experience includes pediatric psychology, integrated primary care, behavioral medicine education and interdisciplinary clinical collaboration.
Her clinical interests include pediatric adjustment to medical illness and hospitalization, family-centered care, and supporting children and families through transitions across health care settings. Dr. Allmon Dixson is also interested in pediatric gender-affirming care, inclusive behavioral health services, and educating health care professionals to provide compassionate, integrated care that addresses the whole child within the context of their family and community.
