Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:


  1. Agitation
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. bruising
  5. confusion
  6. cough
  7. coughing or vomiting blood
  8. dark urine
  9. darkening of the skin
  10. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  11. difficulty in breathing and swallowing
  12. dizziness
  13. fainting
  14. fast heartbeat
  15. fever with or without chills
  16. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  17. headache
  18. hives
  19. hoarseness
  20. hostility
  21. increased blood pressure
  22. increased thirst
  23. irritability
  24. light-colored stools
  25. loss of appetite
  26. lower back or side pain
  27. mental depression
  28. nausea
  29. painful or difficult urination
  30. persistent bleeding or oozing from puncture sites, mouth, or nose
  31. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  32. skin itching, rash, or redness
  33. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  34. stomach pain
  35. swelling of the face, ankles, fingers, hands, or lower legs
  36. tightness in the chest
  37. unusual bleeding or bruising
  38. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness
  39. vomiting
  40. weight gain
  41. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Bleeding under the skin
  2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  3. bloating
  4. bloody, severe, or watery diarrhea
  5. bone pain
  6. chest pain
  7. chills
  8. cold, clammy skin
  9. difficulty with speaking
  10. double vision
  11. fast, weak pulse
  12. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  13. inability to speak
  14. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  15. joint or muscle pain
  16. lightheadedness
  17. nosebleeds
  18. pale skin
  19. paralysis
  20. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  21. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  22. red or black, tarry stools
  23. red or dark brown urine
  24. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  25. red, irritated eyes
  26. slow speech
  27. sores, welts, blisters
  28. sweating
  29. swollen glands
  30. unpleasant breath odor
  31. unusual weight loss

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Blurred vision
  2. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  3. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  4. feeling of fullness in the upper abdomen or stomach
  5. low blood pressure or slow pulse
  6. pain in the upper abdomen or stomach
  7. reddish-orange to reddish-brown color of the urine, stool, saliva, sputum, sweat, and tears
  8. seizures
  9. swelling around the eyes or face
  10. unconsciousness
  11. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:


  1. Feeling that others are watching you or controlling your behavior
  2. feeling that others can hear your thoughts
  3. feeling, seeing, or hearing things that are not there
  4. muscle tenderness, wasting, or weakness
  5. severe mood or mental changes
  6. unusual behavior

Incidence not known

  1. Belching
  2. bloated or full feeling
  3. drowsiness
  4. excess air or gas in the stomach or bowels
  5. indigestion
  6. not able to concentrate
  7. pain or discomfort in the chest, upper stomach, or throat
  8. tooth discoloration
