Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. chills
  3. cough
  4. decreased weight
  5. diarrhea
  6. fever
  7. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  8. headache
  9. hoarseness
  10. increased sweating
  11. joint pain
  12. loss of appetite
  13. lower back or side pain
  14. muscle aches and pains
  15. nausea
  16. painful or difficult urination
  17. pale skin
  18. runny nose
  19. shivering
  20. sore throat
  21. sweating
  22. trouble sleeping
  23. trouble breathing
  24. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  25. unusual bleeding or bruising
  26. unusual tiredness or weakness
  27. vomiting

Less common

  1. Agitation
  2. anxiety
  3. bloating
  4. blurred vision
  5. chest discomfort or pain
  6. cold sweats
  7. coma
  8. confusion
  9. cool, pale skin
  10. darkened urine
  11. decreased appetite
  12. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  13. depression
  14. dizziness
  15. drowsiness
  16. faintness
  17. hallucinations
  18. indigestion
  19. irritability
  20. mood or mental changes
  21. nervousness
  22. nightmares
  23. numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in the hands or feet
  24. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  25. seizures
  26. severe sleepiness
  27. shakiness
  28. slurred speech
  29. stiff neck
  30. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  31. trembling
  32. weakness and heaviness of the legs
  33. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Actions that are out of control
  2. itching, rash
  3. reddened skin
  4. talking, feeling, and acting with excitement

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  2. increase in mucous from the lungs
  3. restlessness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Change in hearing
  2. change in taste
  3. congestion
  4. ear drainage
  5. earache or pain in the ear
  6. lack or loss of strength
  7. loss of taste
  8. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  9. stomach pain
  10. stuffy or runny nose
  11. swollen glands
