Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Blindness over half the field of vision
  2. blurred vision
  3. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  4. confusion
  5. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  6. inability to move the legs or arms
  7. paralysis of one side of the body
  8. partial or slight paralysis
  9. problems with movement, walking, or speech
  10. seizure
  11. sweating
  12. unusual tiredness or weakness

Rare

  1. Blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin
  2. cracked, dry, scaly skin
  3. headache
  4. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  5. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  6. severe sunburn
  7. skin rash
  8. swelling
  9. vomiting

Incidence not known

  1. Cough
  2. difficulty swallowing
  3. dizziness
  4. drowsiness
  5. fast heartbeat
  6. hives or welts
  7. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  8. muscle tremors
  9. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips or tongue
  10. rapid, deep breathing
  11. restlessness
  12. shakiness and unsteady walk
  13. stomach cramps
  14. tightness in the chest
  15. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
  16. unusual tiredness or weakness

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  2. difficult or troubled breathing
  3. irregular, fast, slow, or shallow breathing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Fever
  2. nausea

Rare

  1. Chills
  2. diarrhea

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
