Piloting the BeWell360-CG model, in conjunction with usual care delivery for lung cancer patients in Palliative Care, will longitudinally improve the wellbeing and quality of life of care givers within and outside of clinical care settings, in such a way as to positively impact the quality of care of patients themselves. We hypothesize that PC staff trained in the BeWell360-CG will be able to identify the most common CG-centric needs and guide CGs to improve their QoL and personal wellbeing. In doing so, we further hypothesize that there will be an improvement in patient-reported and quality of care outcomes. The objective of this proposal is to pilot a novel, scalable, user-friendly HWC care model– the BeWell360-CG— that is embedded and integrated as part of a palliative approach to care for CGs of patients with advanced lung cancer. Evaluating Mindfulness-Based Intervention with Fibromyalgia Patients Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to study the feasibility of a wearable brain sensing wellness device to provide mindfulness training to fibromyalgia patients. A Study to Evaluate Wellness Coaching for Caregivers of Thoracic Transplant Candidates Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of a health coaching intervention on the stress and burden of caregivers of patients awaiting heart or lung transplant. Hypotheses: Caregivers will have traits and behaviors pre-transplant that will predict caregiver readiness, quality of life, and transplant recipient outcomes. Specifically, thoracic pre-transplant caregivers report stress, symptoms of anxiety or depression, and perceive high caregiver burden. These factors may be amenable to pre-transplant intervention to improve overall patient and caregiver outcomes. Aims, purpose, or objectives: We will conduct a pilot trial to test whether caregivers of heart and lung transplant candidates who receive wellness coaching will experience improvement in caregiver-related distress. We will also explore the relationship between caregiving and factors such as uncertainty, resilience, stress level, and affect. Mindfulness Intervention for Post-Covid Symptoms Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to look at the use of a novel biofeedback-assisted meditation device when used during the day to provide mindfulness training if it can increase calm state brain activity in post-Covid patients. A Study Evaluate the Positive Impact of Canine Therapy on Cardiac Rehab Patient Outcomes La Crosse, Wis. The purpose of this study is to compare resting blood pressure, heart rate, and quality of life outcomes in cardiac rehab patients with canine involvement versus traditional cardiac rehab therapy alone. Impact of Massage Therapy and Music Therapy on the Quality of Life of Hospice Patients Rochester, Minn. This is a cohort study where subjects will receive either massage therapy or music therapy interventions to evaluate their impact on hospice patients. Acupuncture Therapy for COVID-Related Olfactory Loss Rochester, Minn. The objectives of this study are to describe the incidence of COVID-related olfactory loss, to compare the effectiveness of acupuncture, steroid rinses, and olfactory training versus steroid rinses and olfactory training in the treatment of COVID-related olfactory loss, and to recommend a treatment paradigm for patients with COVID-related olfactory loss. A Study to Evaluate the Effectiveness of Diaphragmatic Breathing on Reflux Symptoms in Outpatients Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to establish if abdominal breathing exercises can reduce symptoms associated with reflux. Health Coaching Post COVID Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to examine whether health coaching provides added benefit to usual care for patients with post COVID syndrome. A Study of HVAC Energy Savings Occupancy Sensing in Buildings through an Innovative Testing Methodology Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the use of occupancy sensors and control-logic to optimize energy savings in real-time based on the occupied condition of Heating Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) system controlled space.
