Biographical summary
Karen E. Weiss, Ph.D., is a board certified licensed pediatric psychologist with a specialization in pediatric pain. She is also an Associate Professor at Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.
Dr. Weiss obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She completed her residency at Children's Hospital of Orange County, CA and fellowship at Mayo Clinic.
Her clinical and research interests include psychosocial factors that influence the development of pediatric chronic pain and pain-associated disability. She is particularly interested in how gender minority stress may influence the pain experience for gender diverse youth. She enjoys working in the Pediatric Pain Rehabilitation Center and helping young people and their families learn how to self-manage their pain to
restore functioning.
