Sanjay V. Patel, M.D., FRCOphth, is Professor and Emeritus Chair of Ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic and has expertise in corneal disease and surgery. He completed residency training at Mayo Clinic and cornea fellowship training at the University of Michigan. He has served on the faculty at Mayo Clinic since 2004.

Dr. Patel's clinical interests are in corneal disease and surgery, anterior segment and ocular surface reconstruction, and complex cataract and intraocular lens surgery. He is an established leader in the field of corneal transplantation, corneal imaging, and Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy. He participates in clinical trials, has published extensively in his field, and has served as principal investigator for extramurally-funded research. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK).
