Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Congestion
  2. cough
  3. difficulty with breathing
  4. fever
  5. itching ears, mouth, and tongue
  6. noisy breathing
  7. sore throat
  8. swelling of the mouth
  9. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin
  10. tightness in the chest

Less common

  1. Body aches or pain
  2. chills
  3. headache
  4. hives or welts, itching, or skin rash
  5. loss of voice
  6. numbness or tingling feeling around the mouth
  7. redness of the skin
  8. runny nose or sneezing
  9. swelling of the lips or tongue
  10. unusual tiredness or weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Blurred vision
  2. chest pain or discomfort
  3. cold hands and feet
  4. confusion
  5. diarrhea
  6. difficulty swallowing
  7. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  8. fainting
  9. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  10. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  11. heartburn
  12. joint pain
  13. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  14. lightheadedness
  15. loss of appetite
  16. loss of consciousness
  17. mouth or throat blisters
  18. muscle aches and pains
  19. nausea
  20. neck tenderness or swelling
  21. pain or burning in the throat
  22. pale skin
  23. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  24. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  25. shivering
  26. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or tongue or inside the mouth
  27. sweating
  28. trouble sleeping
  29. vomiting
  30. weight decreased

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Belching
  2. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  3. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain

Incidence not known

  1. Anxiety
  2. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  3. dry eyes
  4. dry mouth
  5. hearing loss
  6. increased watering of the mouth
  7. lack or loss of strength
  8. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
