Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Back or leg pains
  2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  3. bloody or black, tarry stools
  4. bloody or cloudy urine
  5. blue lips and fingernails
  6. blurred vision
  7. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  8. chest pain or tightness
  9. clay-colored stools
  10. clear or bloody discharge from the nipple
  11. confusion
  12. cough or hoarseness
  13. dark urine
  14. decreased appetite
  15. diarrhea
  16. difficult, fast, or noisy breathing
  17. difficulty with swallowing
  18. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  19. fast or irregular heartbeat
  20. fever with or without chills
  21. flushed, dry skin
  22. fruit-like breath odor
  23. general body swelling
  24. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  25. greatly decreased frequency of urination or amount of urine
  26. hives or welts, skin rash
  27. increased hunger
  28. increased thirst
  29. inverted nipple
  30. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  31. lower back or side pain
  32. lump in the breast or under the arm
  33. muscle cramps or pain
  34. nausea and vomiting
  35. numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in the hands, feet, or lips
  36. painful or difficult urination
  37. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  38. persistent non-healing sore
  39. pink growth
  40. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin
  41. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  42. red, irritated eyes
  43. reddish patch or irritated area
  44. redness or swelling of the breast
  45. redness, soreness, or itching skin
  46. seizures
  47. shiny bump
  48. sore on the skin of the breast that does not heal
  49. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  50. stomach cramping, burning, or tenderness
  51. swelling of the face, hands, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  52. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin
  53. trembling
  54. trouble breathing
  55. unusual bleeding or bruising
  56. unusual tiredness or weakness
  57. white, yellow or waxy scar-like area
  58. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Difficulty with sleeping
  2. disorientation
  3. drowsiness to profound coma
  4. hallucination
  5. lethargy
  6. lightheadedness
  7. mood or other mental changes
  8. rash with flat lesions or small raised lesions on the skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Absent, missed, or irregular menstrual periods
  2. bleeding after menopause
  3. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  4. discoloration of the skin
  5. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  6. inability to have or keep an erection
  7. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  8. muscle spasm
  9. restlessness
  10. sensation of spinning
  11. severe sunburn
  12. stomach upset
  13. stopping of menstrual bleeding
  14. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
