Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bloody, black, or tarry stools
  2. chills
  3. cough
  4. fever
  5. lower back or side pain
  6. painful or difficult urination
  7. pale skin
  8. sore throat
  9. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  10. unusual bleeding or bruising
  11. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. body ache or pain
  4. difficulty breathing
  5. ear congestion
  6. frequent urge to urinate
  7. headache
  8. loss of voice
  9. painful cold sores or blisters on the lips
  10. sneezing
  11. stuffy or runny nose

Rare

  1. Chest tightness
  2. difficulty swallowing
  3. dizziness
  4. fast heartbeat
  5. heartburn
  6. hives, itching, skin rash
  7. indigestion
  8. nausea
  9. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  10. severe stomach pain, cramping, or burning
  11. vomiting of material that looks like coffee grounds, severe and continuing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of skin, feeling of pressure, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
