Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  3. blood in the eye
  4. bloody nose
  5. blurred vision
  6. body aches or pain
  7. bone pain
  8. chest pain or tightness
  9. cloudy urine
  10. cough
  11. decrease in urine output or decrease in urine-concentrating ability
  12. difficult or labored breathing
  13. drowsiness
  14. dry mouth
  15. dryness or soreness of the throat
  16. eye pain
  17. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  18. fever
  19. flushed, dry skin
  20. fruit-like breath odor
  21. hoarseness
  22. increased hunger
  23. increased thirst
  24. increased urination
  25. irregular heartbeat
  26. large amount of cholesterol in the blood
  27. loss of appetite
  28. mood or mental changes
  29. muscle spasms
  30. nausea
  31. rapid weight gain
  32. redness in whites of eyes
  33. stomach pain
  34. stuffy or runny nose
  35. sweating
  36. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  37. tingling of the hands or feet
  38. trouble with swallowing
  39. trembling
  40. twitching
  41. unusual tiredness or weakness
  42. unusual weight gain or loss
  43. voice changes
  44. vomiting
  45. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  46. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Chills
  2. confusion
  3. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  4. general feeling of illness
  5. headache
  6. pain in the chest, groin, or legs, especially the calves
  7. severe, sudden headache
  8. slurred speech
  9. sudden loss of coordination
  10. sudden, severe weakness or numbness in the arm or leg

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. difficulty in moving
  3. fear or nervousness
  4. itching skin
  5. lack or loss of strength
  6. muscle pain or stiffness
  7. pain in the joints
  8. trouble sleeping

Incidence not known

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, discoloration of skin, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
  2. feeling of warmth
  3. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
