Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  4. bloating
  5. blood in the urine
  6. bloody nose
  7. bloody stools
  8. blurred or loss of vision
  9. body aches or pain
  10. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  11. chest pain, discomfort, or tightness
  12. clay-colored stools
  13. cold sweats
  14. confusion about identity, place, and time
  15. congestion
  16. constipation
  17. cough
  18. coughing up blood
  19. cracks in the skin
  20. crying
  21. darkened urine
  22. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  23. decreased urine output
  24. depersonalization
  25. diarrhea
  26. difficulty with breathing or swallowing
  27. dilated neck veins
  28. disturbed color perception
  29. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  30. double vision
  31. dry mouth
  32. dryness or soreness of the throat
  33. dysphoria
  34. false or unusual sense of well-being
  35. fast, pounding, slow, or irregular heartbeat
  36. fever or chills
  37. flushing or redness of the skin
  38. fruit-like breath odor
  39. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  40. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  41. hair loss
  42. halos around lights
  43. headaches
  44. heavier menstrual periods
  45. hives or welts, itching
  46. hoarseness
  47. increased hunger
  48. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  49. increased thirst
  50. increased urination
  51. indigestion
  52. irregular breathing
  53. irregular heartbeat
  54. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  55. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  56. loss of appetite
  57. loss of heat from the body
  58. loss of strength or energy
  59. lower back or side pain
  60. mental depression
  61. mimicry of speech or movements
  62. muscle pain or weakness
  63. mutism
  64. nausea or vomiting
  65. negativism
  66. night blindness
  67. noisy breathing
  68. overbright appearance of lights
  69. painful or difficult urination
  70. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  71. paleness or cold feeling in the fingertips and toes
  72. paranoia
  73. peculiar postures or movements, mannerisms or grimacing
  74. persistent non-healing sore
  75. pink growth
  76. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin
  77. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  78. quick to react or overreact emotionally
  79. rapidly changing moods
  80. rectal bleeding
  81. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  82. red, irritated eyes
  83. red, swollen skin
  84. reddening of the skin, especially around the ears
  85. reddish patch or irritated area
  86. runny nose
  87. scaly skin
  88. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  89. severe sleepiness
  90. severe sunburn
  91. shiny bump
  92. short-term memory loss
  93. skin irritation or rash, including rash that looks like psoriasis
  94. sleeplessness
  95. sore throat
  96. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  97. stomach pain or tenderness
  98. sugar in the urine
  99. sweating
  100. swelling of the eyes, face, or inside of the nose
  101. swelling of the fingers, feet, or lower legs
  102. tender, swollen, or painful glands in the neck
  103. tenderness of salivary glands
  104. tenderness, burning, or peeling of the skin
  105. thickening of bronchial secretions
  106. tingling or pain in the fingers or toes when exposed to cold
  107. trouble breathing
  108. trouble with sleeping
  109. trouble with swallowing
  110. tunnel vision
  111. unable to sleep
  112. unpleasant breath odor
  113. unusual bleeding or bruising
  114. unusual tiredness or weakness
  115. unusual weight loss
  116. unusually warm skin
  117. voice changes
  118. vomiting of blood
  119. weight gain
  120. white, yellow or waxy scar-like area
  121. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Change in consciousness
  2. decreased urination
  3. fast, slow, or shallow breathing
  4. gas
  5. heartburn
  6. increase in heart rate
  7. increased sweating
  8. indigestion
  9. loss of consciousness
  10. low blood pressure
  11. muscle cramps
  12. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  13. rapid breathing
  14. seizures
  15. sunken eyes
  16. unusual drowsiness, dullness, or feeling of sluggishness
  17. unusual paleness
  18. weakness and heaviness of the legs
  19. wrinkled skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  2. dry eyes
  3. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  4. inability to have or keep an erection
  5. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  6. muscle spasm
  7. pain of the penis on erection
  8. pain or discomfort in the chest, upper stomach, or throat
  9. restlessness
  10. sensation of spinning
  11. stomach cramps
  12. thinning of the hair
  13. vivid dreams
