Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain or tenderness
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  4. clay colored stools
  5. confusion
  6. cough or sore throat
  7. dark or bloody urine
  8. decreased appetite
  9. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  10. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness especially when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  11. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  12. fever, chills, or sweating
  13. headache
  14. increased thirst
  15. itching or skin rash
  16. loss of appetite
  17. lower back or side pain
  18. muscle spasms or twitching
  19. nausea or vomiting
  20. nervousness
  21. painful or difficult urination
  22. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  23. pounding in the ears
  24. rapid breathing
  25. seizures
  26. severe diarrhea
  27. slow or fast heartbeat
  28. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  29. tingling of the hands or feet
  30. trouble breathing
  31. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  32. unusual bleeding or bruising
  33. unusual tiredness or weakness
  34. unusual weight gain or loss
  35. yellow eyes or skin

Less common

  1. Chest pain or discomfort
  2. coughing up blood
  3. difficulty with swallowing
  4. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  5. nosebleeds
  6. pain in the shoulders, arms, jaw, or neck
  7. paralysis

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching or passing gas
  3. change or loss in taste
  4. depressed mood
  5. dry mouth
  6. hair loss
  7. heartburn or indigestion
  8. hoarseness or husky voice
  9. fatigue or feeling lethargic
  10. redness of the skin
