Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Stop taking this medicine and get emergency help immediately if any of the following effects occur:

  1. Fast or racing heartbeat
  2. pounding or irregular heartbeat
  3. neck stiffness
  4. severe throbbing headache which starts at the back of the head and radiates forward
  5. slow heartbeat

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Mild to moderate headache, or pressure in the head

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. blurred vision or other changes in vision
  3. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness, especially when getting up from a sitting or lying position suddenly
  4. fast or racing heartbeat
  5. high blood pressure
  6. irritability
  7. nervousness
  8. pounding or irregular heartbeat
  9. restlessness
  10. unusual tiredness or weakness

Rare

  1. Aggressive behavior
  2. bleeding gums
  3. burning, prickling, or tingling sensations
  4. chest pain
  5. confusion
  6. increased depression, or other mood and mental changes
  7. difficulty with speaking
  8. fast, slow, or irregular heart beat
  9. feeling of something in the eye
  10. general feeling of illness
  11. headache (severe)
  12. increase in urination
  13. increased sensitivity of eyes to light
  14. irregular or prolonged menstrual periods
  15. irritation or soreness of the mouth
  16. itching, redness, and swelling of the eye
  17. loss of balance control
  18. loss of interest in self or surroundings
  19. memory problems
  20. pain or straining to pass urine or stool
  21. painful urination
  22. restlessness or desire to keep moving
  23. ringing or noise in the ears
  24. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  25. skin rash, hives, or itching
  26. stomach pain or burning
  27. slow heartbeat
  28. troubled breathing
  29. twisting movements of body
  30. uncontrolled movements, especially of the face, neck, and back

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Agitation
  2. confusion
  3. convulsions (seizures)
  4. decreased reflexes
  5. extreme drowsiness
  6. high blood pressure
  7. loss of memory
  8. nausea
  9. slurred speech
  10. vomiting

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Dryness of mouth
  2. trembling or shaking of arms or legs

Less common or rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain or discomfort
  2. change in your sense of taste
  3. constipation
  4. diarrhea
  5. dizziness
  6. drowsiness
  7. feeling of warmth of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally upper chest
  8. heartburn or indigestion
  9. increased or decreased appetite
  10. increased sweating
  11. joint or muscle pain
  12. nightmares
  13. trouble sleeping.

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
