Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. dizziness
  3. dry mouth
  4. flushed, dry skin
  5. fruit-like breath odor
  6. increased hunger
  7. increased thirst
  8. increased urination
  9. nausea
  10. nervousness
  11. slow or fast heartbeat
  12. stomach pain
  13. sweating
  14. trouble breathing
  15. unexplained weight loss
  16. unusual tiredness or weakness
  17. vomiting

Less common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bladder pain
  3. bloody or cloudy urine
  4. burning or stinging of the skin
  5. burning, tingling, numbness or pain in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
  6. chest pain or discomfort
  7. cough or hoarseness
  8. discouragement
  9. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  10. feeling sad or empty
  11. fever or chills
  12. frequent urge to urinate
  13. irritability
  14. lack of appetite
  15. loss of interest or pleasure
  16. lower back or side pain
  17. painful cold sores or blisters on the lips, nose, eyes, or genitals
  18. painful or difficult urination
  19. right upper abdominal or stomach pain and fullness
  20. sore throat
  21. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  22. stabbing pain
  23. swelling
  24. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  25. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  26. swollen glands
  27. trouble concentrating
  28. trouble sleeping
  29. tumor
  30. unusual bleeding or bruising

Incidence not known

  1. Anxiety
  2. backache
  3. changes in skin color
  4. facial hair growth in females
  5. fractures
  6. hives, itching, rash
  7. joint or muscle pain
  8. loss of sexual desire or ability
  9. menstrual irregularities
  10. muscle wasting
  11. pain, tenderness, or swelling of the foot or leg

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  4. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestine
  5. heartburn
  6. inability to have or keep an erection
  7. indigestion
  8. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  9. stomach discomfort or upset

Less common

  1. Abnormal thinking
  2. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  3. confusion
  4. change in vision
  5. constipation
  6. increased salivation
