Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Swelling of face, fingers, lower legs, ankles, and/or feet
  2. weight gain (unusual)

Less common

  1. Bruising (not at place of injection)
  2. high blood pressure
  3. skin rash or itching
  4. small, red spots on skin
  5. sores, ulcers, or white spots on lips or in mouth

Rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain, cramping, or burning that is severe
  2. bleeding from the rectum or bloody or black, tarry stools
  3. bloody or cloudy urine
  4. blue lips and fingernails
  5. blurred vision of other vision change
  6. burning, red, tender, thick, scaly, or peeling skin
  7. chest pain
  8. convulsions
  9. cough or hoarseness
  10. dark urine
  11. decrease in amount of urine that is sudden
  12. fainting
  13. fast, irregular, noisy, or troubled breathing
  14. fever with severe headache, drowsiness, confusion, and stiff neck or back
  15. fever with or without chills or sore throat
  16. hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there)
  17. hearing loss
  18. hives
  19. increase in amount of urine or urinating often
  20. light-colored stools
  21. loss of appetite
  22. low blood pressure
  23. mood changes or unusual behavior
  24. muscle cramps or pain
  25. nausea, heartburn, or indigestion that is severe and continues
  26. nosebleeds
  27. pain in lower back and/or side
  28. pain, tenderness, or swelling in the upper stomach area
  29. painful or difficult urination
  30. pale skin
  31. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or eyes
  32. ringing or buzzing in ears
  33. runny nose
  34. severe restlessness
  35. shortness of breath
  36. swollen or painful glands
  37. swollen tongue
  38. thirst that continues
  39. tightness in the chest with or without wheezing
  40. unusual tiredness or weakness
  41. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  42. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain (mild or moderate)
  2. bruising at place of injection
  3. diarrhea
  4. dizziness
  5. drowsiness
  6. headache
  7. indigestion
  8. nausea

Less common or rare

  1. Bloating or gas
  2. burning or pain at place of injection
  3. constipation
  4. feeling of fullness in abdominal or stomach area
  5. increased sweating
  6. vomiting
