Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

For the 0.03% nasal spray

More common

1. Body aches or pain
2. chills
3. cough
4. difficulty with breathing
5. ear congestion
6. fever
7. headache
8. loss of voice
9. nasal congestion
10. runny nose
11. sneezing
12. sore throat
13. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

1. Blurred vision
2. burning, dry, or itching eyes
3. discharge or excessive tearing
4. itching, redness, tearing, or other sign of eye irritation not present before use of this medicine or becoming worse during use
5. nasal dryness
6. nosebleeds
7. redness, pain, or swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid

Rare

1. Pain or cramping in the abdomen or stomach
2. painful or difficult urination

Incidence not known

1. Difficulty with swallowing
2. dizziness
3. fast heartbeat
4. hives or welts
5. itching
6. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
7. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
8. redness of the skin
9. skin rash
10. tightness in the chest

For the 0.06% nasal spray used for 4 days

Less common

1. Nasal dryness
2. nosebleeds

Rare

1. Blurred vision
2. dizziness
3. eye redness or pain
4. fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
5. pain or cramping in the abdomen or stomach
6. painful or difficult urination
7. ringing or buzzing in the ears
8. sore throat

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

For the 0.03% nasal spray

Less common or rare

1. Bad, unusual, or unpleasant (after) taste
2. change in taste
3. dry mouth or throat
4. increased nasal congestion or runny nose
5. nasal itching, burning, or irritation
6. nausea

For the 0.06% nasal spray

Less common or rare

1. Dry mouth or throat
2. increased nasal congestion
