Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Confusion
  2. decreased urine output
  3. diarrhea
  4. dizziness
  5. dry mouth
  6. fast or irregular heartbeat
  7. headache
  8. increased thirst
  9. loss of appetite
  10. mood changes
  11. muscle pain or cramps
  12. nausea or vomiting
  13. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  14. pale skin
  15. seizures
  16. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  17. troubled breathing
  18. unusual bleeding or bruising
  19. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Agitation
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bleeding gums
  4. blood in the urine or stools
  5. blurred vision
  6. fever
  7. hallucinations
  8. lack of feeling or emotion
  9. nervousness
  10. pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site
  11. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  12. pounding in the ears
  13. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  14. slow heartbeat
  15. slow speech
  16. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness

Incidence not known

  1. Back or leg pains
  2. chest pain or tightness
  3. chills
  4. clay-colored stools
  5. cough or hoarseness
  6. dark urine
  7. difficulty swallowing
  8. general body swelling
  9. hives, itching, or skin rash
  10. light-colored stools
  11. lower back or side pain
  12. nosebleeds
  13. painful or difficult urination
  14. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  15. reddening of the skin, especially around the ears
  16. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  17. sore throat
  18. stomach cramps, pain, and tenderness
  19. swollen glands
  20. unpleasant breath odor
  21. vomiting of blood
  22. watery and severe diarrhea, which may also be bloody
  23. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Constipation
