Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Backache
  2. blistering, burning, crusting, dryness, flaking, irritation, itching, scaling, severe redness, soreness, stinging, or swelling of the skin
  3. burning, itching, and pain in the hairy areas, pus at the root of the hair
  4. burning and itching of the skin with pinhead-sized red blisters
  5. darkening of the skin
  6. blurred vision
  7. diarrhea
  8. dizziness
  9. dry mouth
  10. facial hair growth in females
  11. fainting
  12. fractures
  13. fruit-like breath odor
  14. full or round face, neck, or trunk
  15. increased hunger or thirst
  16. increase urination
  17. increased hair growth on the forehead, back, arms, and legs
  18. irritability
  19. lightening of the normal skin color
  20. lightening of treated areas of the dark skin
  21. loss of appetite
  22. loss of sexual desire or ability
  23. menstrual irregularities
  24. mental depression
  25. muscle wasting
  26. nausea
  27. reddish purple lines on the arms, face, legs, trunk, or groin
  28. redness and scaling around the mouth
  29. softening of the skin
  30. stomach pain
  31. sweating
  32. thinning of the skin with easy bruising, especially when used on the face or where the skin folds together (eg, between the fingers)
  33. thinning, weakness, or wasting away of the skin
  34. trouble breathing
  35. unexplained weight loss
  36. unusual tiredness or weakness
  37. vomiting

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Acne or pimples
  2. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  3. flushing, redness of the skin
  4. unusually warm skin

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
