Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. blood in the urine or stools
  3. blurred vision
  4. bone pain
  5. chest pain
  6. chills
  7. confusion
  8. cough
  9. coughing up blood
  10. decreased urine output
  11. difficulty in breathing or swallowing
  12. dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting
  13. dry mouth
  14. fast or irregular heartbeat
  15. fever
  16. flushed, dry skin
  17. fruit-like breath odor
  18. headache
  19. hoarseness
  20. increased hunger
  21. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  22. increased thirst
  23. increased urination
  24. irregular heartbeat
  25. loss of appetite
  26. loss of consciousness
  27. lower back or side pain
  28. mood changes
  29. muscle pain or cramps
  30. nausea
  31. nosebleeds
  32. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  33. painful or difficult urination
  34. paralysis
  35. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  36. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  37. rapid, shallow breathing
  38. rash
  39. red or black, tarry stools
  40. red or dark brown urine
  41. seizures
  42. sore throat
  43. stomach pain and bloating
  44. sweating
  45. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  46. tightness in the chest
  47. unexplained weight loss
  48. unusual bleeding or bruising
  49. unusual tiredness or weakness
  50. vomiting

Less common

  1. Blue lips and fingernails
  2. coughing that sometimes produces a pink frothy sputum
  3. difficult, fast, noisy breathing
  4. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  5. increased sweating
  6. pale skin
  7. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth

Incidence not known

  1. Stomach cramps
  2. watery or bloody diarrhea

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:
