Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. White patches in the mouth and throat

Less common

  1. Bone pain
  2. diarrhea
  3. ear ache
  4. fever
  5. lower abdominal or stomach pain
  6. nausea
  7. pain on passing urine
  8. redness or discharge of the eye, eyelid, or lining of the eye
  9. sore throat
  10. trouble swallowing
  11. vaginal discharge (creamy white) and itching
  12. vomiting

Rare

  1. Blindness, blurred vision, eye pain
  2. bone fractures
  3. chest tightness
  4. excess facial hair in women
  5. fullness or roundness of the face, neck, and trunk
  6. growth reduction in children or teenagers
  7. heart problems
  8. high blood pressure
  9. hives, skin rash
  10. impotence in males
  11. increased hunger, thirst, or urination
  12. lack of menstrual periods
  13. muscle wasting
  14. numbness and weakness of the hands and feet
  15. swelling of the face, lips, or eyelids
  16. trouble breathing

Incidence not known

  1. Cough
  2. difficulty swallowing
  3. dizziness
  4. fast heartbeat
  5. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  6. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  7. unusual tiredness or weakness

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Darkening of the skin
  2. fainting
  3. loss of appetite
  4. mental depression
  5. unusual tiredness or weakness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. General aches and pains or general feeling of illness
  2. greenish-yellow mucus in the nose
  3. headache
  4. hoarseness or other voice changes
  5. runny, sore, or stuffy nose

Less common

  1. Bloody mucus or unexplained nosebleeds
  2. eye irritation
  3. headache, severe and throbbing
  4. irregular or painful menstrual periods
  5. joint pain
  6. mouth irritation
  7. muscle soreness, sprain, or strain
  8. sneezing
  9. stomach pain

Rare

  1. Aggression
  2. agitation
  3. bruising
  4. itching
  5. restlessness
  6. weight gain

Incidence not known

  1. Decrease in height
  2. dry mouth
  3. flushed, dry skin
  4. fruit-like breath odor
  5. loss of voice
  6. pain in the back, ribs, arms or legs
  7. sweating
  8. trouble sitting still
  9. unexplained weight loss
