Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Body aches or pain
  2. congestion
  3. cough
  4. dryness or soreness of the throat
  5. fever
  6. headache
  7. hoarseness
  8. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  9. shortness of breath or troubled breathing
  10. sneezing
  11. stuffy or runny nose
  12. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  13. tightness of the chest or wheezing
  14. trouble with swallowing
  15. voice changes

Less common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  3. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  4. bloody nose
  5. bloody or cloudy urine
  6. blurred vision
  7. chest pain
  8. chills
  9. cough producing mucus
  10. diarrhea
  11. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  12. dizziness
  13. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  14. frequent urge to urinate
  15. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  16. hives
  17. itching
  18. joint or muscle pain
  19. lower back or side pain
  20. nervousness
  21. pounding in the ears
  22. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  23. rapid weight gain
  24. red, irritated eyes
  25. skin rash
  26. slow heartbeat
  27. sore mouth or tongue
  28. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  29. sweating
  30. swelling
  31. tingling of the hands or feet
  32. unusual tiredness or weakness
  33. unusual weight gain or loss

Incidence not known

  1. Creamy white, curd-like patches in the mouth or throat
  2. darkening of the skin
  3. discouragement
  4. fainting
  5. feeling sad or empty
  6. irritability
  7. loss of appetite
  8. loss of interest or pleasure
  9. loss of strength or energy
  10. muscle weakness
  11. nausea
  12. pain when eating or swallowing
  13. trouble concentrating
  14. trouble sleeping
  15. vomiting

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Abdominal or stomach fullness
  2. acid or sour stomach
  3. appetite changes
  4. bad, unusual, or unpleasant (after) taste
  5. belching
  6. blemishes on the skin
  7. burning, dry, or itching eyes
  8. change in taste
  9. constipation
  10. cramps
  11. difficulty with moving
  12. discharge or excessive tearing
  13. dizziness or lightheadedness
  14. ear pain
  15. fear
  16. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  17. gas
  18. headache, severe and throbbing
  19. heartburn
  20. heavy bleeding
  21. indigestion
  22. irritability
  23. itching of the vagina or genital area
  24. loss of smell or taste
  25. muscle aching or cramping
  26. muscle stiffness
  27. pain during sexual intercourse
  28. pain in the neck
  29. pimples
  30. redness, pain, or swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
  31. restlessness
  32. sensation of spinning
  33. shakiness
  34. skin rash, encrusted, scaly, and oozing
  35. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  36. swollen joints
  37. thick, white vaginal discharge with no odor or with a mild odor
  38. trouble sitting still
  39. trouble sleeping
  40. upset stomach
