Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. chest pain
  3. chills
  4. confusion
  5. cough
  6. fever
  7. lower back or side pain
  8. mood or mental changes
  9. muscle cramps in the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face
  10. numbness and tingling around the mouth, fingertips, or feet
  11. painful or difficult urination
  12. pale skin
  13. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  14. sore throat
  15. stomach pain or cramps
  16. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  17. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  18. trouble breathing
  19. trouble sleeping
  20. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  21. unusual bleeding or bruising
  22. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. blurred vision
  3. deep or fast breathing with dizziness
  4. dizziness
  5. dry mouth
  6. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  7. headache
  8. irritability
  9. nervousness
  10. numbness of the feet, hands, and around the mouth
  11. pounding in the ears
  12. restlessness
  13. shaking

Rare

  1. Change in personality
  2. changes in behavior
  3. discouragement
  4. feeling sad or empty
  5. lack of appetite
  6. loss of interest or pleasure
  7. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  8. thoughts of killing oneself
  9. trouble concentrating

Incidence not known

  1. Fainting
  2. nightmares

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. back or neck pain
  3. belching
  4. feeling hot
  5. heartburn
  6. indigestion
  7. lack or loss of strength
  8. nausea
  9. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  10. vomiting

Less common

  1. Burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles" , or tingling feelings
  2. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  3. change in color vision
  4. constipation
  5. difficulty in speaking
  6. difficulty seeing at night
  7. drooling
  8. full or bloated feeling
  9. increased sensitivity of the eyes to sunlight
  10. increased sweating
  11. itching skin
  12. loss of balance control
  13. muscle spasm
  14. pressure in the stomach
  15. stiffness of the limbs
  16. swelling of the stomach area
  17. twisting movement of the body
  18. uncontrolled movement, especially of the face, neck, and back
