Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. chills
  5. cough
  6. fever
  7. lower back or side pain
  8. painful or difficult urination
  9. pale skin
  10. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  11. sore throat
  12. trouble breathing with exertion
  13. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  14. unusual bleeding or bruising
  15. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. cloudy urine
  3. confusion
  4. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  5. drowsiness
  6. frequent urge to urinate
  7. lower back or side pain
  8. shakiness and unsteady walk
  9. trouble remembering
  10. uncontrolled eye movements
  11. unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination

Incidence not known

  1. Anxiety
  2. chest pain
  3. dizziness or lightheadedness
  4. fainting
  5. fast heartbeat
  6. general feeling of illness
  7. pain, redness, or swelling in arm or leg
  8. pains in the chest, groin, or legs, especially calves of legs
  9. persistent non-healing sore
  10. pink growth
  11. reddish patch or irritated area
  12. shiny bump
  13. sudden loss of coordination
  14. sudden onset of slurred speech
  15. sudden vision changes
  16. swollen glands
  17. weight loss
  18. white, yellow or waxy scar-like area
  19. yellow skin and eyes

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bone pain
  2. diarrhea
  3. headache
  4. lack or loss of strength
  5. muscle spasms
  6. nausea
  7. pain in the arms or legs
  8. vomiting
  9. weight gain
