Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Arm, back, or jaw pain
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bloody nose
  4. blurred vision
  5. chest pain or discomfort
  6. chills
  7. cloudy urine
  8. confusion
  9. cough
  10. dark urine
  11. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  12. diarrhea
  13. difficult or labored breathing
  14. difficulty with moving
  15. dizziness
  16. dry mouth
  17. fainting
  18. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  19. feeling of fullness
  20. fever
  21. gaseous abdominal or stomach pain
  22. general feeling of tiredness and weakness
  23. headache
  24. heavier menstrual periods
  25. inability to speak
  26. increase in heart rate
  27. increased thirst
  28. itching, skin rash
  29. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  30. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  31. lightheadedness
  32. loss of appetite
  33. loss of bladder control
  34. muscle aching or cramping
  35. nausea
  36. nervousness
  37. pain, swelling, or redness in the joints
  38. painful or difficult urination
  39. pale skin
  40. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  41. pounding in the ears
  42. rapid breathing
  43. redness of the skin
  44. right upper abdominal or stomach pain and fullness
  45. runny nose
  46. seizures
  47. severe or sudden headache
  48. shivering
  49. slow or fast heartbeat
  50. slurred speech
  51. sore throat
  52. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  53. stomach fullness or pain
  54. sunken eyes
  55. sweating
  56. swelling
  57. temporary blindness
  58. thirst
  59. tightness in the chest
  60. trouble sleeping
  61. trouble swallowing
  62. unusual bleeding or bruising
  63. unusual tiredness or weakness
  64. vomiting
  65. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  66. weakness in the arm or leg on one side of the body, sudden and severe
  67. weight gain
  68. wrinkled skin
  69. yellow eyes and skin

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. diarrhea
  3. difficulty with swallowing
  4. hives
  5. hoarseness
  6. lower back or side pain
  7. muscle cramps or spasms
  8. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  9. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  10. red, irritated eyes

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Rare

  1. Anxiety
  2. bad, unusual, or unpleasant (after) taste
  3. blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin
  4. body aches or pain
  5. breast pain
  6. bruising
  7. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  8. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  9. change in taste
  10. changes in hair color
  11. constipation
  12. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  13. cough producing mucus
  14. cracked, dry, or scaly skin
  15. decrease in smell
  16. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  17. deep or fast breathing with dizziness
  18. depression
  19. ear congestion
  20. excess air or gas in the stomach or bowels
  21. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  22. fruit-like breath odor
  23. gum pain
  24. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  25. hearing loss
  26. heartburn
  27. inability to have or keep an erection
  28. inability to move the arms and legs
  29. increased or decreased appetite
  30. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  31. increased sweating
  32. increased urination
  33. irritability
  34. large, flat, blue, or purplish patches in the skin
  35. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  36. loss of consciousness
  37. loss of voice
  38. muscle or bone pain or stiffness
  39. muscle spasm, tightness, or weakness
  40. muscle twitching
  41. nasal congestion
  42. numbness of the feet, hands, and around the mouth
  43. painful blisters on the trunk of the body
  44. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  45. sensation of spinning
  46. severe or continuing stomach pain
  47. severe sunburn
  48. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  49. skin rash, encrusted, scaly, and oozing
  50. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  51. small red or purple spots on the skin
  52. sneezing
  53. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  54. sudden numbness and weakness in the arms and legs
  55. sweating
  56. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  57. throat irritation
  58. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  59. trouble sleeping
  60. unexplained weight loss
  61. unusual drowsiness, dullness, or feeling of sluggishness
  62. weight loss

Incidence not known

  1. Aggressive thoughts
  2. false beliefs that cannot be changed by facts
  3. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
