Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Anxiety
  2. blurred vision
  3. confusion about identity, time, and place
  4. dizziness
  5. drowsiness
  6. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  7. feeling of unreality
  8. headache
  9. lightheadedness
  10. nervousness
  11. pounding in the ears
  12. relaxed and calm feeling
  13. sensation of spinning
  14. sense of detachment from self or body
  15. sleepiness
  16. slow or fast heartbeat
  17. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness

Less common

  1. Changes in patterns and rhythms of speech
  2. excitement
  3. false or unusual sense of well-being
  4. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  5. feeling abnormal or drunk
  6. frequent daytime urination
  7. nightmares or unusually vivid dreams
  8. slurred speech
  9. tremor
  10. trouble in speaking
  11. urinating small amounts of urine at a time

Rare

  1. Changes in behavior
  2. chest pain or discomfort
  3. discouragement
  4. fast or pounding heartbeat
  5. feeling sad or empty
  6. irritability
  7. lack of appetite
  8. loss of interest or pleasure
  9. sweating
  10. thoughts of killing oneself
  11. trouble concentrating
  12. trouble sleeping

Incidence not known

  1. Irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  2. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  3. trouble breathing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  2. change in or loss of taste
  3. diarrhea
  4. nasal itching, burning, or irritation
  5. nausea
  6. throat irritation
  7. vomiting

Less common

  1. Constipation
  2. dry mouth
  3. mouth or throat pain
