Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. blurred vision
  4. chills
  5. confusion
  6. cool, pale skin
  7. decreased appetite
  8. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  9. discouragement
  10. dizziness
  11. fast heartbeat
  12. fast, shallow breathing
  13. feeling sad or empty
  14. frequent urge to urinate
  15. general feeling of discomfort
  16. headache
  17. increased hunger
  18. irritability
  19. lack of appetite
  20. loss of consciousness
  21. loss of interest or pleasure
  22. lower back or side pain
  23. muscle pain or cramping
  24. nausea
  25. nightmares
  26. seizures
  27. shakiness
  28. sleepiness
  29. slurred speech
  30. stomach discomfort
  31. tiredness
  32. trouble concentrating
  33. trouble sleeping
  34. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Bad-smelling discharge from the penis
  2. itching of the vagina or genitals
  3. itching, stinging, or redness of the vaginal area
  4. redness, itching, swelling, or pain of the penis
  5. thick, white vaginal discharge with mild or no odor

Incidence not known

  1. Dark urine
  2. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  3. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  4. dry mouth
  5. fever
  6. flushed, dry skin
  7. fruit-like breath odor
  8. increased thirst
  9. itching, skin rash
  10. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  11. light-colored stools
  12. pain, tenderness, redness, or swelling of the area between the anus and genitals
  13. redness of the skin
  14. stomach pain, continuing
  15. unexplained weight loss
  16. vomiting
  17. weight gain
  18. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bloated or feeling of fullness
  2. diarrhea
  3. excess air or gas in stomach or bowels
  4. indigestion
  5. passing gas
  6. stomach discomfort
